Soli Music Mentorship
A free, peer-to-peer mentorship community for student musicians, built on one rule: you get what you give. High schoolers receive free lessons from upper-level and college musicians, and pass that same time forward to younger students — so every mentee eventually becomes a mentor.
A cascade, not a classroom
Mentorship at Soli runs downhill, one generation of students to the next, and then loops back into itself. Nobody pays for a lesson, and nobody teaches without having first been taught.

College & conservatory musicians
Volunteer mentors who studied their instrument seriously give lessons to high schoolers — no fee, no obligation beyond showing up.

Mentored by the stage above, and turn around to mentor middle and elementary schoolers in their own section or instrument family.

Get one-on-one attention years before most students have access to a private teacher — from someone only a few years ahead of them.

Every mentee is a mentor-in-waiting. The point of the program is that today’s student becomes tomorrow’s teacher.
What a session looks like
The format is deliberately light-touch — built around what students can actually keep up with alongside school and their own practicing.
- Recorded submissions, async feedback
- Send in a recording of a passage or piece and get specific, written feedback back — no scheduling required for quick check-ins.
- 30-minute virtual lessons
- Live one-on-one sessions with a student mentor, held over video call, focused on whatever the mentee is working on that week.
- Technique, rhythm, intonation, tone, expression
- Mentors work across the fundamentals — not just note-reading — and help build the practice habits that make progress stick.
- Flexible scheduling
- Built around school schedules on both sides of the mentorship — sessions are arranged directly between mentor and mentee.
